Welcome to the Movement Catalyst website!

Movement Catalyst provides technical and strategic support to grassroots groups in the fight for racial and economic justice.

We have a long history of supporting direct action organizing for the human right to housing and community control over land, in neighborhoods most affected by gentrification and the foreclosure crisis. In this moment, we are uniquely positioned to engage the Occupy movement on collaborating with community organizations to demand that the right of humans to housing, food, education and public space should supercede the right of a bank or developer to make a profit.

Movement Catalyst is organized to connect our grassroots partners and their local campaigns with important allies, including progressive policy researchers, lawyers, and academics. We believe that to build a movement, it is vitally important that these professionals be connected in structured, accountable ways to communities and activists fighting for their rights and their vision.

These connections will allow our network to help lead us into the next phase of the movement: developing policy initiatives, proposing alternatives to existing economic structures, and increasing spaces for collaboration.
